ABIDE

A gentle invitation to remain with Jesus as the year unfolds.

By The Beloved Collective | belovedcollectiveco.com

An Invitation to Remain

A new year often arrives carrying quiet pressure.

Pressure to plan.

To improve.

To become something more put together.

But before the goals, the rhythms, or the expectations, Jesus offers something simpler.

An invitation to remain.

To begin this year not by rushing forward, but by settling in.

To take a breath before the pace picks up.

To remember that we are not asked to earn our way into God’s presence. We are welcomed into it.

This devotional is not about doing more.

It is about staying close.

As the days ahead unfold, may your heart relearn what it means to abide.

To live rooted, steady, and held by the One who never changes.

Surely Goodness Will Follow You

Psalm 23:6

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,

and I shall dwell in the house of the LORD forever.

Hebrews 13:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.

As we step into a new year, Scripture reminds us of something deeply comforting.

We are not walking into the unknown alone.

Goodness does not wait for us to arrive at a certain version of ourselves.

Mercy does not require perfection.

They follow us quietly and faithfully into every ordinary day.

Because Jesus does not change, we do not need to reinvent ourselves each January.

We are invited to dwell.

To remain.

To trust that the same God who carried us before will continue to lead us now.

Faith Grows Here Too

Faith is often formed in places that feel small.

In early mornings when the house is still quiet.

In whispered prayers over coffee or tea.

In moments that feel ordinary or unseen.

What we reach for first in the morning gently shapes our hearts.

Is it the noise of the world, or the nearness of God?

A simple practice for this season might look like this:

Leave your phone across the room.

Open your Bible wherever the Lord leads you.

Sit with Him, unhurried.

Not out of obligation, but relationship.

Faith does not require long devotionals or perfect routines.

Sometimes it begins with a single verse.

Sometimes with the quiet words, “Good morning, Lord.”

And that is enough.

A Quiet Beginning

This year does not need heavy resolutions to be meaningful.

It can begin with gentle intentions.

You may feel drawn to nourish your body with more care.

To create slower rhythms.

To rest more intentionally.

To simplify your days.

Not as rules, but as acts of stewardship.

There may also be seasons of fasting, where you create space for God in a deeper way.

Jesus spoke of fasting as something natural in the life of a believer.

Always with wisdom.

Always with grace for the season you are in.

Sometimes abiding looks like returning.

Sometimes it looks like committing again.

Sometimes it looks like resting when the world tells you to hurry.

Sometimes beginning quietly looks like prayer.

Anointing oil.

Scripture spoken softly over your home.

Not as protection born of fear, but a declaration of trust.

This home belongs to God.

Held for the Days Ahead

Abiding does not always look quiet, especially in motherhood.

Sometimes it looks like presence in interruptions.

Like choosing peace in the middle of noise.

Like trusting that God is near even when life feels simple.

As this year unfolds, may you remember this truth:

You are not behind.

You are not forgotten.

You are not walking alone.

Goodness and mercy are already following you.

And as you nurture faith within your home, both in yourself and in your children, know that these small, faithful moments matter deeply.

If you are seeking gentle, faith rooted ways to disciple your little ones, a free resource is available to support you.

It was created with the same heart.

Slow. Intentional. Rooted in truth.

May this year be marked not by striving,

but by staying close.
